Woke up at 6:30AM today for CIP at Willing Hearts (located near Aljunied MRT Station). It was my second time going down and this time round it wasn't such an eye opener as it was the first time, but nonetheless, it was still a valuable experience.
The first time I went, I wanted to blog about the experience but I didn't bring my camera and I was kind of paiseh to take out my bb and take photos, so this time round I brought my camera haha.
Was silently hoping that I wasn't allocated to any baskets of lettuce or cauliflowers (had enough of them the first time round) and thank God I didn't get any of those. Got long beans instead!

zhengning and may chopping the long beans into tiny pieces (yes just look at the size of the basket)

junyao chopping onions

other volunteers and more vegetables!

if you're lucky, your vege might come along with a worm! (Took this and threw it back into the basket because I was scared but everyone else was scared so I unleashed the inner man in me and threw the worm away *self-pat on back*)

drinks they were giving out

the regular volunteers!

went with one of the uncles to deliver food!

after delivering to our first location

second location
the entire delivery process took about an hour and when may and I came back, zhengning was STILL chopping the long beans LOL

helped to pack food into the boxes. i like this job best. :)

dozens of boxes are filled up every single day!! according to their website, they serve 75,000 meals per month!

this photo is so beautiful :')

when i left, many were still helping out. if i'm not wrong this is a continuous process since they have breakfast lunch and dinner to cook, and tomorrow's ingredients to prepare as well.

they have chickens running around and no, they're not food
I really really admire the volunteers. Most of them are quite old and at their age they can be resting at home watching taiwan dramas or planting bean sprouts yet they willingly come down to help the needy. Really makes me wonder...WHAT ARE THE YOUNG PEOPLE DOING??
But then again, if it weren't for Community Advocates, I would never have known this place existed. So, even though only a handful read my blog, still hope the few who do now know better about Willing Hearts!
If after reading my blog post, you still don't, it's ok. LOL. Here is a paragraph I copied from their website:
Among other services, we are fundamentally a soup kitchen that prepares, cooks and distributes
meals to the needy including the elderly, adults and children in various locations in Singapore.
To find out more about them, visit their
website or their
fb page!
Going down tmr again YAY EXCITED (still hope I don't get lettuce/cauliflowers)
